Larry Carlton Tickets go on sale March 19

There will be some big changes at this year’s seventh annual centerpiece of the south suburban summer: Burnsville’s Art and All That Jazz Festival. The first big change, thanks to SKB Environmental, is the addition of an indoor performance on Friday night. The Larry Carlton Trio will kick off the event with a show in the Burnsville Performing Arts Center. Sponsors and VIP ticket holders will be able to begin the evening with a reception. After his performance, Larry will meet the special guests in a reserved area. Tickets for this event will go on sale on Ticketmaster March 19 at 11:00am.

Thanks to SKB Environmental, the regular ticket price is only $32.

The second big change is that the outdoor Saturday festival will return to free admission. The star-studded show will feature Jesse Cook as the headline act, sponsored by Pawn America.  Other acts include Lao Tizer with Karen Briggs and Chieli MinucciSteve Clarke and the Working Stiffs and our very own south of the river favorite: the youthful and very talented Penguins.

In addition to an outstanding line-up of musicians, and over 100 art and food vendors, there will be a new child-friendly section in the park, the focus of which will be the “instrument petting zoo.” “This is in keeping with our goal to encourage our young to include art as a part of their lives, and to make the day something for the whole family to enjoy,” states Dan Gustafson, festival organizer. The headline acts will also offer free workshops for our youth in the local GARAGE youth center.

The line-up is as follows:
Friday August 20

Indoors in the BPAC (tickets go on sale March 19 at 11:00am)
8:00pm:  SKB Environmental Presents The Larry Carlton Trio
Regular tickets $32, VIP Tickets $152 (VIP tickets include reception, prime seating and a meet and greet with Larry after the show).
Saturday August 21

The Chameleon Theatre Circle Presents The Underpants by Steve Martin

The Chameleon Theatre Circle brings Steve Martin’s The Underpants to the Burnsville Performing Arts Center. Louise, wife to ruthless pragmatic government clerk Theo, accidentally managed to drop her drawers at the Kaiser’s parade, thus becoming the talk of a thrillingly scandalized town. It seems that every man in Germany, except Theo, now wants to bunk up with her.

Playwright Steve Martin has adapted the original comedy by Carl Sternheim into a smart and funny farce on the absurdity of bourgeois snobbery and their covert approach to their sexual desires.

The Underpants will be performed at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center on:
• Friday, February 26, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.
• Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 2 p.m.

• Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.
• Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $16 for adults and $14 for groups of 8 or more.
